Join us at our open meeting at the Pig's Palace, 37 White Rock, Hastings, TN34 1JL. Facing up to Climate Reality: Honesty, Disaster and Hope was published earlier in 2019 by the Green House Think Tank. This talk will explore some of the major challenges we must meet if we are serious about facing up to climate reality – honesty about the true scale of climate disasters, how we respond to this emotionally with a radical hope, the need for rapid decarbonisation across society, and for a new industrial strategy that can enable transition to a post-growth economy. Jonathan Essex is a member of the Green House Think Tank and a Green County Councillor in Surrey. Jonathan will draw on the collective works in the Facing up to Climate Reality book and his work on researching, campaigning and calling for sufficient change to address the climate emergency.

The big Green electric campaign bus came to Hastings and St Leonards on Saturday to a warm reception. She said that "A vote for the Green Party on May 23 is a vote to: »» Remain in the EU, by putting the question of Brexit back to a better-informed people, and mobilising a positive, pro-European movement to win the People’s Vote for Remain. »» Build a movement for a European-wide Green New Deal for a equitable and just transition to a low-carbon economy, by electing MEPs who know we need to act now to save our wildlife, our environment, and ultimately us and our planet from catastrophe. »» Rebuild our communities through dedicated work in the UK and across borders to restore opportunities and address inequality. Hastings Green Party welcomes the news that the proposal to build a huge marina complex and over a thousand homes on a platform in the sea at Rock-a-Nore has been withdrawn by its sponsor, the Hastings Harbour Quarter company. We have been at the forefront of mobilising opposition to the scheme, including handing the council a petition signed by 1100 people, protesting the proposals in July – which is why I am speaking to you today.
