Hastings Green Party is very pleased to announce Marisa McGreevy-Rose as the candidate for West St Leonards

I moved to St Leonards with my family 3 years ago. I quickly fell in love with the town and its people and felt – for the first time ever – that I’ve come ‘home’. Every day I wake up feeling lucky to be here, and grateful for the opportunity to support my local community.

It’s easy to moan about all the things that don’t work properly, and social media is full of complaints about what’s wrong with the world, and our local environment. An alternative approach might be to take an active role in trying to fix things, which is what I would like to do, if I possibly can, at a local level.

Therefore, I’ve decided to put myself forward as a Hastings Green Party candidate for West St Leonards, to give residents the chance to vote for something different.

I think we must move away from short-term thinking and towards a more sustainable future, working together to build skills and resilience, and taking pride in where we live.

Personally, I feel passionate about creating job opportunities to school leavers, and residents, to give them the best chance of a decent future.

I care about creating affordable local housing in a post-Thatcher era that isn’t built on flood plains by hit-and-run developers. I believe that some of our existing empty buildings could help to address urgent housing issues, and I want to help tackle homelessness in a common-sense way, which includes addressing the root causes.

It would be my privilege to advocate for the residents of West St Leonards on the issues that really matter.
