I stood as a Green candidate because I was fed up with politicians coming to my door on election day asking for my vote but being invisible and not listening to me throughout the rest of the year. I’ve lived in the town for over 15 years, have got to know my community well over that time and felt we needed a really big change in Hastings. I am fortunate to have brought up my 2 children in this beautiful coastal town and want to see a good quality of life for everyone living here. That means having clean seas, less pollution, better quality housing, green energy and really localising the way we are living. I believe in a regenerative culture where all of us have a voice, whatever our background, so we can create a really good social foundation for our next generation. We cannot carry on with how the Council system is being run down by central government and I will keep campaigning for a better quality of life here. We cannot just sit back. We all know that our climate is changing and that the summers are getting hotter, that there are droughts, appalling sewage pollution and real concerns for our living environment. Being a holistic Green and listening to others is the consistent message I carry through in my councillor role. I will continue listening and acting on what I hear in pursuit of a better quality of life in my own ward of Gensing, and across Hastings more generally.
