PAULA WARNE

GENSING

Hastings Green Party are very pleased to announce Paula Warne Green Party Campaigner as the candidate for Gensing Ward.

I’ve been connected to Hastings for most of my life, having spent much of my childhood here and settling here at 19.

I’ve lived in various parts of the town, currently Gensing. I have a real passion for Hastings and St Leonards: I’ve seen it change so much. It is now a vibrant scene of art, culture, beautiful green spaces, and community events.

I am here to stand for what I believe in: putting people and environment first. I want to put Hastings and St Leonards on the map for long-term thinking, I want to work with local residents to improve our area, represent the views of local people, and help people be heard.

Having worked for East Sussex Highways as an inspector for eight years, I am passionate about improving local transport and campaigning for a vastly improved and robust bus service throughout the town.

I’m also keen to promote tourism and make our town a welcoming place, especially as we are steeped in history. I hope the joy I get from seeing the wildflower site at Warrior Square train station extends to everyone who hops off the train there. A growing number of small businesses are helping our local economy and they need our support.

I have been talking to people about the Green Party and many are surprised to learn our policies extend far beyond recycling and open spaces. I urge people to read up on our national and local policies, talk to their local Green Party councillors, and question whether the political path they have been treading still represents them, or whether it is time to re-evaluate and go green for our environment and our future.
